THERE
IS A CHOICE IN SCHOOLS
Children are born curious, resourceful and compelled
to explore and understand the world around them. They do this best by
observing, imitating, practicing skills repeatedly and exploring new
ideas through uninterrupted play.
At Sacramento Valley School, we support children ages five through eighteen
in pursuing individual, unique paths of learning unhindered by age segregation,
fixed time tables for classes, compulsory testing and grade evaluations,
to name a few.
Our students enjoy complete intellectual freedom as they work hard each
day at mastering the complex skills they themselves decide as important
and necessary for a successful life.
How do we measure their success? By the smiles on their faces, the relationships
they form and the intensity with which they pursue their ever-expanding
interests each day. Outcome is secondary
to the process that unfolds along the way.
More Democratic
schools are being founded each year as our country and the world
continue to rethink existing authoritarian educational paradigms. Sudbury-model
schools consider themselves to be some of the most trust-based,
egalitarian models of schooling available at this time.
Please continue on to our website where you will find more information
about our local school and many others who are paving the way toward
a real choice in your child's educational future.
